My love of farmers dates back to my childhood

Preparation

I come from a family of peasant landowners. As a city girl, I came into contact with the land and the farm animals every time I went on holiday.

Over time, I became interested in agricultural issues, including food sovereignty and GMOs. In 2014, when I heard about Vandana Shiva and her incredible support for Indian farmers, I understood the need to preserve peasant and/or ancient seeds.

They contain all the genetic and nutritional heritage of the past. They are reproducible, natural, resistant and free. Above all, they contain the life and future of humanity.

If we use (trans)genetically modified seeds such as GMOs or (supposedly) organic F1 hybrids, we lose their genetic and nutritional value, their strength and their power of adaptation. What’s more, they are no longer reproducible and make farmers dependent on the system (WTO and CAP) because they have to buy them back every year.

So I’m proud to present some of my seed collection. Some have germinated, others have not. Some will produce vegetables, others will go to seed and leave me in charge of the next generation of plants.
